Now that you have officially started your business it's time to start attracting some attention!

Here are your web marketing avenues of choice, focus on one or more depending on your marketing strategy and your market. ALWAYS keep your business plan in mind to help you stay focused and ALWAYS cater your marketing strategies to your market.

Blog Marketing This style of marketing focuses your attention on building a fan-base around you or your product. You can also use a blog to offer your customers bonus information that they may often go to other sites looking for. If your customer's can get everything they want to buy in your niche and all the information they seek about your niche in one place, they have no reason to find your competitors!
Search Engine Optimization SEO is a key component in almost every type of web business. Do you remember that kid in high school that always knew what was happening in the school, they always had the latest news and could point you in the direction of the person that knew whatever you were looking for...Well, on the web that's Google. So why not make sure that Google knows who you are and starts sending visitors (and potential customers) your way.
Affiliate Marketing Encyclopedia Brittanica was the number one selling encyclopedia for years mainly because of their door-to-door salesmen. Why not get your own? Picture it: Someone sets up a site promoting your product or store, they make the sales and you just send them out. You pay them a percentage of the sale as commission and suddenly you only have to a quarter of the marketing work, because you now have a team of salespeople out there marketing for you. Pretty sweet, huh?
Paid Advertising Much like commercials and billboards in the "real" world, the web world allows to plenty of opportunities to post your banners and text, advertising your products. This arena can be a little tricky, but that's mostly because of the amazing amount of trackable information available. It's also a very easy way to spend your marketing budget and not have much to show for it. You need to have a very strong idea of your market and customer base before actively pursuing this arena. And there are some strategies that can help you get the most bang for your buck.
Social Marketing The newest arena of online marketing but also a surprisingly effective one. Much like the blog arena but much more population friendly, your focus is to build your fan base around your product. In fact, MySpace real estate is becoming quite valuable, so your first step should be to reserve your MySpace page name and set up a Facebook page while you're at it too. You should know, though, that niches across the internet are popping up with their own social networking sites, and these may actually be just as effective if not more effective than hitting the big two.
Video Marketing Since the explosion of YouTube, the everyday internet browser averages watching at least 10 videos each day. Shouldn't one of those videos be yours?! And YouTube and GoogleVideo are just scratching the surface, new video sites are popping up at an amazing rate, with better quality video and more focused content. Making a commercial with internet quality video is not nearly as expensive as making it cable ready and 50% more effective than a text or banner ad.
Once you've decided which avenue you want to pursue first and how each possibility works into your marketing strategy, it's time to get down to business.

My marketing implementation theory is:

1. Learn about the medium (video, blogs, MySpace etc.)

2. See what others are doing (check out your competition, but don't be limited, just because they haven't thought of it, doesn't mean it won't work for your arena)

3. Start implementing it yourself. Set up a schedule that you can keep and actively pursue your marketing strategy.

4. When one avenue starts paying off and feels routing and comfortable, move onto another.

That's it! Check out our Learn section for the latest guides on all of these arenas.

That's what's so exciting about the web! It's all still fairly new and every day a concept no one ever thought would work is taking the market by storm!
