Whenever you see an apple in the text, you can click on it for further explanations.

Starting a new business can be a lot of fun, very exciting and extremely overwhelming--especially if you buy into the commercials that tell you it's easy and effortless to do. But I think you've got it in you. After all, you ended up here didn't you?

Step 1: Do you know what kind of business you want to start? What focus? What niche?

This is a crucial (and seemingly obvious) first step. Even if you think you know what business you want to start, you need to get very specific. Don't just say you want to start a website about "Golf". It's been done. Get specific and you'll dominate.

    Ask yourself the following questions:

1. What can I offer people that other's are not?

Better Prices? Free Shipping? More Knowledge? More Customer-Attention?

2. What aspect of my general topic do I excel in?

Are you adept at finding the cheapest techniques and tools? Or the ones that work the best for people under 5'5"? Or ways to include young kids in your activities?

psst! If you don't know what you want to start...no worries! Try out our Idea Machine to get your brainstorming synapses firing. =)

Essentially you want to carve out your niche, where you can dominate first and foremost and then move into the more general area.

Here's a preview of what you're going to go through following Liquid Elite.

Think of yourself as the local farmer. You work hard and develop the best tasting apples in the county.(GetStarted) You set up your little fruit stand across the street from an Albertson's or Stop & Shop or Piggly-Wiggly (depending on where in the country you're located), but customers don't even know you're there. So you make a couple signs and flyers and that one curious customer finds you and tastes your amazing apples. (Get Noticed) Word spreads, customers tell neighbors and even though the crowds are still going into the big grocery store across the street, they don't buy their apples there. They always stop at your fruit stand, and buy your apples.

Can you see the possibilities?! This is how your business is going to start too. Do you want to see a little preview into the future?

Before you know it, your little fruit stand can't hold all the customers, so you start expanding and you hire a local college student to help out in the afternoons. (Flourish) Now that you're selling out your apples. You decide to try your hand at strawberries and selling apple seeds with instruction manuals so your customers can try their hand at raising their own apple trees...(Expand)

And that's just the beginning.

Now that you've got an idea of your niche...
